چکیده

The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP)’s Long Term Evolution (LTE) standards define the next major step in the evolution of cellular systems towards higher data rates, low latency, and greater spectral efficiency. This occurs in the context of a System Architecture Evolution (SAE) that specifies a packetswitched IP architecture for both voice and data transmission. We present a simulation implementation of a key component of the overall LTE-SAE: the L2 (Datalink) layer of the LTE-Uu interface between mobile User Equipment (UE) and a base station eNodeB. The simulation is developed for the INET Framework of OMNeT++4.0, an open-source computer-network simulation environment, and implements the Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP), Radio Link Control (RLC), and Medium Access Control (MAC) layers of the LTE-Uu. The implementation is extensible, and is intended to serve as a publicly-available, opensource platform for further simulation development of various aspects of LTE-SAE.

Simulating LTE/LTE-Advanced networks with SimuLTE

In this work we present SimuLTE, an OMNeT++-based simulator for LTE and LTE-Advanced networks. Following well-established OMNeT++ programming practices, SimuLTE exhibits a fully modular structure, which makes it easy to be extended, verified and integrated. Moreover, it inherits all the benefits of such a widely-used and versatile simulation framework as OMNeT++, i.e., experiment support and se...

Simulating device-to-device communications in OMNeT++ with SimuLTE: scenarios and configurations

SimuLTE is a tool that enables system-level simulations of LTE/LTE-Advanced networks within OMNeT++. It is designed such that it can be plugged within network elements as an additional Network Interface Card (NIC) to those already provided by the INET framework (e.g. Wi-Fi). Recently, device-to-device (D2D) technology has been widely studied by the research community, as a mechanism to allow di...

Multi-RATs Support to Improve V2X Communication

As the next generation of wireless system targets at providing a wider range of services with divergent QoS requirements, new applications will be enabled by the fifth generation (5G) network. Among the emerging applications, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication is an important use case targeted by 5G to enable an improved traffic safety and traffic efficiency. Since the V2X communication ...

Simulation of entrainment near a density stratified layer: Laboratory experiment and LIDAR observation

In this paper a simple qualitative model of the growth of a mixed layer adjacent to a uniform layer with a stably stratified layer is presented. The depth variations of mixed layer can be estimated from direct measurements. The Entrainment of a stably stratified layer into a turbulent mixed layer in a confined region was studied in laboratory for different Richardson numbers. The internal waves...

Looking into Hardware-in-the-Loop Coupling of OMNeT++ and RoSeNet

—Network emulation using real sensor node hardware is used to increase the accuracy of pure network simulations. Coupling OMNeT++ with network emulation platforms and tools introduces new application possibilities for both sides. This work-in-progress report covers our experiences of using OMNeT++ as a test driver for RoSeNet, a network emulation and test platform for low-power wireless technol...
